Demex Daily #212: Caitlyn Jenner Debuts Olympic Medal-Inspired Token on Ethereum

What’s Interesting Today:

Caitlyn Jenner is launching an Olympic gold medal-inspired token, MEDAL, on Ethereum layer-2 Base, starting August 8 without a set price, allowing the market to determine its value. The token represents a fractional share of the value of Jenner's Olympic medal but does not grant ownership of the physical medal. This initiative, which involves deploying an ERC-721 NFT contract followed by the issuance of 100 million ERC-20 tokens, marks the first Olympic gold medal NFT. Jenner announced this development in conjunction with her plans to speak at the next Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas in 2025, reflecting a significant step in digital asset innovation linked to historical and cultural milestones.

StarChain, a DeSci project, has unified 500 terabytes of astronomical data, enhancing the ability for astronomers to perform complex queries and analyze massive datasets. Dr. Meijer, the Chief Scientific Officer, highlighted that this consolidation into a single, user-friendly platform marks a significant advancement in scientific research, offering easier data access and analysis. The platform, currently in limited access with plans for a public beta by Q1 2025, aims to expand to over 10 petabytes of data across various scientific fields. Additionally, StarChain is developing a neural-network-based analysis tool, StarChain AI, and has launched a successful presale of its STRC token, raising $100k in the first 24 hours. This initiative supports their goal of creating a secure, efficient, and collaborative scientific data ecosystem.
