Demex Daily #243: ckBTC Bridges to Cosmos via Osmosis as Centralization Alternative

What’s Interesting Today:

Chain-key Bitcoin (ckBTC), a non-custodial Bitcoin token built on the Internet Computer blockchain (ICP), will soon bridge to the Cosmos ecosystem via the decentralized exchange Osmosis. This move introduces a secure, non-custodial Bitcoin option to Cosmos, amid concerns over centralization in existing wrapped Bitcoin solutions like Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). The partnership with ICP’s Omnity Network aims to offer an alternative to WBTC, which has faced scrutiny due to perceived influence from Tron founder Justin Sun.

Google Cloud has launched a Blockchain RPC service initially supporting Ethereum, with plans to expand to more blockchains in the future. This service aims to improve reliability for decentralized applications by allowing developers to interact with Ethereum data more efficiently. It includes a free tier offering up to 100 requests per second and one million requests per day, fully compatible with Ethereum’s JSON-RPC standard. Google Cloud’s service addresses challenges related to RPC reliability that can affect DApp performance during high network activity.
