Demex Daily #256: EIP-7781 Could Boost Ethereum Throughput by 50%

What’s Interesting Today:

Ethereum's new improvement proposal, EIP-7781, aims to increase network throughput by 50% by reducing slot times from 12 seconds to eight seconds. Proposed by Ben Adams of Illyriad Games, this upgrade seeks to enhance Ethereum's processing capacity, allowing it to handle more transactions and compete with faster blockchains like Solana. It will also increase the number of data blobs per block from six to nine, benefiting layer-2 networks like Arbitrum and Optimism. While the proposal has garnered support, it may require validators to invest in additional resources to manage the higher throughput.

Arrington Capital-supported RedStone has introduced Bitcoin staking oracles aimed at improving DeFi platforms by delivering real-time information on staked Bitcoin and liquid staking tokens (LSTs). These oracles will facilitate Bitcoin holders in staking their assets within DeFi across platforms such as Ethereum, Avalanche, and Polygon. Following a $15 million funding round in July, RedStone is enhancing its data services, which track LST issuance and determine their net asset value. The company also intends to integrate with additional platforms like pumpBTC and Solv, and expand its support for Arbitrum, Base, and BNB Chain.
