Demex Daily #269: Ankr Integrates TON into Web3 API for DApp Development
What’s Interesting Today:
Ankr has integrated The Open Network (TON) into its Web3 API services, enabling developers to create decentralized applications (DApps) for Telegram's 950 million users without the need for node management. This integration streamlines development by providing remote procedure calls (RPCs) that facilitate transactions and data retrieval directly on the TON network. Popular DApps like Hamster Kombat have already gained traction on TON. Additionally, the TON Foundation has partnered with Axelar’s Mobius Development Stack to enhance cross-chain DApp development, backed by a recent $30 million investment to boost TON-based applications.

Ethereum's upcoming upgrade, "The Verge," aims to significantly reduce hardware requirements, allowing nodes to run on everyday devices like phones and smartwatches. Co-founder Vitalik Buterin highlights that the upgrade will enhance security and accessibility through "stateless verification," enabling nodes to verify blockchain blocks without needing to store large amounts of data. This addresses the current challenge of requiring hundreds of gigabytes of state data to operate a node. Initially focusing on implementing Verkle trees, the upgrade also acknowledges concerns about their vulnerability to quantum computing, prompting consideration of more secure alternatives like STARK-based binary hash trees. Additionally, changes to Ethereum's gas cost system will adjust fees for various operations, promoting better scalability and making solo staking more viable.
