Demex Daily #281: ENS Labs Launching Namechain Layer-2 to Boost Scalability and Lower Costs

What’s Interesting Today:

ENS Labs, the team behind Ethereum Name Service (ENS), plans to launch "Namechain," its own layer-2 blockchain using zero-knowledge rollups to improve scalability and reduce costs. Expected to go live by the end of 2025, Namechain will allow ENS to process transactions off the main Ethereum network while retaining its security. This layer-2 system, part of an ENS overhaul dubbed "ENSv2," aims to offer lower gas fees and maintain compatibility with existing ENS structures. The shift aligns ENS with other major crypto projects launching their own layer-2 networks for enhanced scalability.
