Demex Daily #307: ENS Chooses Linea for Fast, Gasless Layer-2 Namechain
What’s Interesting Today:
Ethereum's ENS (Ethereum Name Service) has selected ConsenSys' Linea technology to power its upcoming layer-2 network, Namechain. Linea, a zero-knowledge rollup, was chosen for its speed and alignment with ENS's values. This technology allows for faster, lower-cost transactions, with zero-knowledge rollups offering quicker proof finalization compared to optimistic rollups. ENS, known as the "phone book for Web3," requires fast finality for efficient updates to ENS names, which is why Linea's technology was preferred. ENS will be one of the first major projects to build on Linea's stack, which is also being used by other blockchain projects like Status.
