Tron will launch a Gas Free feature for USDT next week, allowing transactions without needing TRX for gas fees, according to founder Justin Sun. Once the cheapest blockchain for USDT transfers, Tron saw fees spike above $9 in late 2024, making it one of the most expensive networks. Current TRC-20 USDT fees range between $3.20 and $6.50, compared to $0.40 on Ethereum. Tron has been developing a gas-free solution since mid-2024 to restore affordability and boost stablecoin adoption.
