Demex Daily #23: $IOTA IOTA Introduces Ethereum-Compatible Smart Contracts on ShimmerEVM

What’s Interesting Today:

VanEck, an asset management firm, is preparing to introduce the first ETF in the U.S. focused on Ethereum futures contracts. The exact launch date is yet to be announced, but the ETF will be listed on the CBOE and will invest in cash-settled Ethereum futures approved by the CFTC. This development comes amid speculation that the SEC is speeding up its authorization process for such financial products. Despite facing previous hurdles with the SEC in launching crypto ETFs, VanEck could gain a competitive edge by being the first to market with this Ethereum-focused ETF.

IOTA is set to launch its first public Smart Contracts and a related token on ShimmerEVM, an Ethereum-compatible blockchain. ShimmerEVM is a part of Shimmer, a separate IOTA ecosystem blockchain designed for developers to build and test applications before deploying them on the IOTA mainnet. The new offering aims to attract more developers and users to IOTA, allowing them to run apps from other blockchains with little to no modification. Users can send SMR tokens, and eventually NFTs and custom assets, to ShimmerEVM via Firefly without the need for a special bridge. This development follows a series of recent decisions by IOTA to advance its network and ecosystem.
